Toastmasters is the non-profitable organization where members learn by speaking in public and working with others to foster the leadership. More than four million men and women have benefited from the organization. Why not us? Let's communicate! |
History of Toastmasters |
In October 1924, Dr. Ralph C. Smedley hold the very first meeting in the basement of YMCA in Santa Ana, California. He assembled people to form a club in order to practice public speaking and promote sociability. The group was named "Toastmasters". Soon after, people from other area heard about the club, and started thier own clubs. In Japan, the first club was founded more than 50 years ago, and now we have over 70 clubs in Japan. |
How Toastmasters works |
In a typical Toastmasters club, 20-30 members meet once or twice a month. Each meeting lasts 1-2 hours, and every member has an opportunity to speak out. Members take the roles such as Speaker or Evaluator in turns.
